It was the first time it happened to me. I heard it before with music artists or painters – they experienced a – flash of brilliance – the finished piece was completed in their heads at the inception of the idea.
I was walking home and my neighbor, Roetta Collins, asked me to do a logo for her new production company. I asked her the name of her production company and she said, “One Iota Productions”.
And there it was – the Flash of Brilliance – the logo appeared in my mind – complete.
After our talk, I turned on my computer and recreated what I saw in my head. I didn’t brainstorm other options – it was perfect! It took me a half hour to lock down the image which included picking out just the right font that matched my vision and centering/placement etc…..$50 for a half hour of work. Not bad.
1. Tell me briefly about your decision to GO FOR acting, writing and the ‘roses’ series?
When I was laid-off from my corporate gig in 2009, I had no choice but to “go for it” — After 15 years of aspiring, I did not have the acting career I had envisioned. After my firing I asked myself a powerful question: “If money were no object, what would I be doing?” So I “went for it!” — I wrote the script and step-by-step I was able to burst through the mental blocks that were stifling my creativity.
2. What are your plans for the web series? Does One Iota have anything else on the burner? My plans for the web series are to do a couple of “bonus” episodes in 2013. Long range plans are to find representation (a packaging agent) and turn the web series into a TV series, which serves the baby boomer demographics. I also have a cooking show demo I am shopping around called “Cooking in a Small Kitchen.”3. Where have you used the logo?First of all, I LOVE THE LOGO. It’s brilliant. I love using the logo on all my 1iota email correspondence, my biz cards, postcards and recently I co-produced a cooking show pilot and used it with my co-producer credit. I have plans to put the logo on t-shirts and coffee cups for retail.4. Have people responded to it? What did they say?I have gotten many compliments on the logo – comments have been that it’s “innovative” “original” and others respond to the merging of the 1 and the i as being a powerful statement of commitment. It’s a perfect representation of my “brand”.
Has a Flash of Brilliance ever happened to you? What was it and what did you do with it?
